The Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, will participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the U.S. Adriatic Charter (A5) Commission, held in Skopje, North Macedonia.

Minister Hasani and his Macedonian counterpart Bujar Osmani will hold a joint press conference to mark the symbolic transition of the A5 presidency from the Macedonian side to the Albanian presidency for the year 2024.

The U.S. Adriatic Charter is a regional security initiative, previously agreed upon at the NATO Summit in Prague (November 2002), between the Presidents of Albania, Croatia, Macedonia, and the United States.

It was conceived as an encouraging counterbalance by the U.S. administration for the three aspiring Balkan countries to NATO, after they were not invited to the Prague Summit for NATO membership.
