The implementation of the favorable home loan program has begun. New families of doctors, military personnel, and State Police employees can benefit from this program, and the interest will be covered by the state.

Present at the ceremony organized for this occasion, Prime Minister Edi Rama assured that “this is just the beginning of a new path of long-term support for the young families of those who serve the state day and night and the citizens of the Republic of Albania”.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this program of providing home loans for all those with new families, with all the interests covered by the state, makes it entirely possible for them to take a loan and buy a home.

“Today, bank interest rates are above 6%. They are too high for someone who has only one income. It is not easy for banks to provide this loan considering the perspective, whereas having a loan without any interest completely changes the norm,” stated Rama.

The Prime Minister ensured that this is a winning program for all those involved.

“We had 300 quotas this year. It’s the first time. The process has had bureaucratic issues, but it’s just the beginning. Both we and the applicants will learn. Next year, we will have the opportunity to expand the number, and all these categories will have their own homes,” said Rama.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ervin Mete said that the winners have been announced according to procedures and selection criteria after administering a considerable number of applications. He added that this program will be extended to the next year, aiming to expand the beneficiaries and categories.

“The support provided to you today, in the form of zero-interest loans, is an expression of our commitment to translate the current economic prosperity that the country is experiencing, having faced various crises, into more solidarity and a fairer redistribution for the well-being of citizens.

We have also allocated a special fund for salary increases for the coming year, in order to advance with a significant wage increase for the public sector, including the law enforcement and health sectors, aiming to offer quality employment, a competitive salary in the region, and the ambition to not stop here but to continue towards greater support for public servants.

With the same expression of solidarity, in the legislative act we just approved, we have provided support to those in need, as well as pensioners who received their second bonus within this year, with the intention of engaging in a thorough discussion during the next year for the reform of social security schemes, including pensions, as well as other pillars of social protection for those in need.

The same legislative act also granted food compensation for State Police employees, precisely under the spirit of dignified treatment of those who serve under the uniform of the Albanian state.

Because, as I emphasized, it is our duty to be united, to pursue fairer policies, and to support as much as possible all those who, with dignity and integrity, provide their service in this country,” stated Mete.
