An organization that trafficked drugs from Albania to Bari was brought down by the Italian anti-mafia.
19 arrest warrants were executed this Wednesday after investigations that started in 2017 between Presecutors Office (SPAK), Eurojust and the Italian anti-mafia directorate.
As part of the “Peak” operation in 2020, some of the arrested were sentenced to up to 11 years in prison for international drug trafficking.
Earlier, the Italian media reported that 27 people were arrested from this criminal organization, while the Italian authorities seized about 3.3 tons of marijuana, cocaine and heroin drugs.
The network of drug traffickers consisted of Albanians and Italians who, in cooperation with each other, operated in the area of Bari, but also operated in Apulia and Basilicata.
