After titles such as European Youth Capital and European City of Sports, Tirana has been declared the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue for the year 2025.

The good news was announced by the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who did not hide his enthusiasm for the new title that the capital of Albanians will bear.

“After the Year of Youth and the Year of Sports, in 2024 we will host B40, which is the largest association of municipalities in the region, where Tirana holds the Presidency. We will be ready for a super year in 2025, where Tirana will not only shine, as it has shone all this time, but will have the richest cultural activity in the Mediterranean,” said Veliaj.

“The entire Mediterranean will be in Tirana for the culture that Tirana offers, our capital,” Veliaj concluded.

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, congratulated Tirana and Mayor Erion Veliaj for being declared the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2025.

“Congratulations to Tirana and the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, for being awarded the designation of the 2025 Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue from the Union for the Mediterranean,” Hasani wrote in a post on the social network X.

“The European vision of Tirana will showcase tolerance, inclusivity and sustainable development for the whole Mediterranean region,” Hasani concluded.
