Another successful operation between the State Police and the Regional Security Office (RSO)/Criminal Investigations Office (OCIU) near the Embassy of the United States of America, in Tirana, is finalized.

Within the coded operation “Return”, the citizen Albert Shkembi, sentenced to 12 years imprisonment, for criminal activity in the field of narcotics, is extradited to Albania.

Following the joint operations between the State Police and the American law enforcement agencies, for the location, capture and extradition of the citizens announced as wanted internationally, the coded police operation “Return” has been finalized.

As part of this operation, citizen Albert Shkembi, 60 years old, was extradited from the United States of America to Albania.

The location and capture of this citizen, in New Jersey, in June of this year, became possible after the continuous exchange of information between the State Police, DSS/OCIU near the United States Embassy in Tirana and the US Marshals Service.

This citizen has been declared an international wanted man, after the Tirana Court of Appeal, with the decision dated 22.11.2016, has sentenced him to 12 years of imprisonment, for the criminal offense “Trafficking of narcotics”, remaining in the attempt, committed in collaboration.

During the period 2014-2015, this citizen, in the role of organizer and financier, in cooperation with other citizens, organized the trafficking and transportation of narcotics cocaine and heroin, from Turkey to Albania (with the route Turkey-Greece-Macedonia-Albania), to sell these items on the domestic market, as well as to traffic them to other EU countries.
