The spokesperson of the European Union, Peter Stano, has reacted regarding the decision of Serbia to recognize the license plates of the Republic of Kosovo.

Through a post on Twitter, Stano emphasizes that the European Union welcomes the decision taken by Belgrade as an important step towards the normalization of relations between the two countries.

Stano adds that this is a step in the right direction of better regional integration and said that he expects Kosovo to do the same.

“The European Union welcomes the decision to officially recognize the RKS license plates issued by Kosovo, a positive step in the implementation of the Agreement on the Normalization of Relations, as well as the past commitments of the Dialogue regarding Freedom of Movement.

This shows that it is possible to achieve progress in the process of normalizing relations between Serbia and Kosovo.

It is also a step in the right direction towards better regional and Western Balkan integration, which ultimately benefits the citizens of the region.

This decision paves the way for the complete abolition of the license plate regime. The EU now expects Kosovo to respond in a similar way,” wrote Stano on the social network “X”.
