Chief Democrat Lulzim Basha has revealed his two promises to the media, in an event for the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of the “Rilindja Demokratike” newspaper.

During his speech, Basha said that he will free the media from ties to the government and will work for the freedom, safety and dignity of journalists.

He also congratulated the media representatives on this 33rd anniversary of the establishment of the first opposition newspaper in Albania.

“My first pledge today is that the Democratic Party, starting with the unveiling of the electoral political program, pledges to free the Albanian media from the slavery of economic ties with the government, which has undone the main mission of the media, that of protecting and promoting the public interest and has damaged the dignity of the media.

My second pledge goes to media workers, to journalists and not only to the need not just to write, but to create mechanisms that will enforce with an iron hand the dignity, safety and freedom of media workers.

With these two promises, I want to return once again to the 33rd anniversary of “Rilindja Demokratike” newspaper, to create a new hope, for us and for the public, for the Albanian media that has had a difficult year”, said Basha.
