The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has expressed his disappointment with the announcement that the United States will sell the Javelin anti-tank missile to Kosovo.

This is stated in an announcement of the Serbian presidency after the meeting of the Serbian leader Vučić with the American ambassador in Belgrade, Christopher Hill.

According to the communication, Ambassador Hill informed President Vučić of the acceptance of Pristina’s request for the purchase of Javelin anti-tank missiles.

As Ambassador Hill said, the State Department will send Pristina’s request to the American Congress, from where the official procedure begins.

President Vučić, it is further said, he said that “this information is a great disappointment for Serbia”, but emphasized that he will work to preserve Serbian-American relations.

“For us, it is important that peace in the region is not broken and that Serbia continues to act responsibly and contribute to stability in the Balkans,” the Serbian president is quoted as saying.

The “Javelin” anti-tank missile has been produced since 1994 and was first used in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“Javelin” became popular after the Russian aggression in Ukraine, as it has been widely used by Ukrainian forces against Russian tanks.
