Financial support offered for projects promoting tourism

Projects aiming at the development and promotion of diversified destination or product offerings in tourism can be financially supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment through a scheme that has been in place for years.

The Ministry announced the opening of applications, which will remain open until February 13.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Environment announces the call for financial support for projects in the field of tourism, presented by individuals and legal entities, domestic or foreign, private or public, who have tourism as the subject of their activity, in order to fulfill the strategic mission: ‘Albania, a welcoming, attractive, and authentic destination for the sustainable development of the country’s economic, natural, and social potentials’.

The call aims at promoting destinations, products, and diversifying the tourist offerings for the development of mountain, natural, cultural, traditional, culinary tourism, ecotourism, nostalgic tourism, adventure tourism, etc., also in support of tourist season activities for 2024,” the Ministry’s announcement states.

According to the Ministry, the projects must be implemented within the budget year, from the date of contract signing until November 15, 2024.

The Ministry explains that the theme of the call for financial support for Tourism Projects is “For the development and promotion of diversified destination, tourist offerings in Tourism”.

“Tourist attractions are presented and linked to a series of distinctive material, intellectual, and emotional characteristics of a society that includes historical heritage and cultural areas, gastronomy, literature, creative industries, and living cultures with their lifestyle, value systems, beliefs, and traditions.

Promoting tourist destinations, education, and unique local values through the development of traditional and innovative events of human spiritual activity encourages and motivates the active participation of tourists in Albanian experiences, visible and invisible attractions, and potential tourist destinations,” emphasizes the Ministry.

Regarding the financing, the documents specify that it covers up to 50% of the project costs accepted and approved by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment.

In case the project for which financing is sought exceeds 50% of the annual budget allocated in the state budget, it is approved by a decision of the Council of Ministers. Applying entities must meet a series of conditions related to certification that they are not in bankruptcy or have fulfilled tax obligations.
