Students and lecturers of the University of Korça, Fan S. Noli, have lit candles in the city’s pedestrian area in honor of 45 innocent civilians, killed 25 years ago in Reçak, Kosovo.

The pedagogy of history Alba Kreka shows that the event of Reçak on the civilian population of Kosovo was the most serious event that occurred by the Serbian military machinery, an event that shocked the entire international opinion.

“Three words defined what had happened in Kosovo. War and crime against humanity. 1:05 today we went out to remember the fallen of the war who were women, men, children, elderly and they deserve to be honored so today together with the children despite the weather conditions we went out to honor them.  It is justice that defines peace, let’s hope that such crimes against humanity do not happen again, like the one in Zveçan, history should serve to prevent the mistakes of the past from being repeated”, said Kreka.

Part of the tributes of this painful event of the people of Kosovo were not only the students but also the citizens of Korça.

In Kosovo on January 15, state leaders honored the victims of the Reçak massacre. In this village of Shtime, 25 years ago, Serbian forces killed 45 Albanian civilians.

During the laying of flower wreaths in this village of Shtime, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, thanked the former American ambassador, William Walker, who was present at the ceremony.

Walker, during the year 1999, had served as the head of the Verification Mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and had documented the crimes committed in this village.
