On the 556th anniversary of the death of the National Hero of Albania, Gjergj Kastriot Skënderbeu, a photographic exhibition with images from the making of the film “Skënderbeu” was opened in the city of Gjirokastra.
Part of the scenes of this film, made in 1953, were shot in the surroundings of the stone city.
The 62 photographs exhibited, in addition to artistic values, are also a special archival asset for Albanian cinematography and Gjirokastra itself.
“We have about 62 photos from the film, which are in really, really good condition, it’s a very nice photographic exhibition, coming from “Mosk Film” and very well preserved, it’s an exhibition that shows not only the main actors who have played since the role of Skanderbeg, Russian actors and Albanian actors, it is also an exhibition that shows prominent moments of the film and life in Gjirokastra, it is undoubtedly a very big event because it is a big full-length film, the first Albanian film and one of the best achievements of not only Albanian cinematography but also wider”, said director Kudret Alikaj.
During the today in Gjirokastra, a program of cultural activities was realized which centered on the figure of Skanderbeg.
