January weekends are bringing tourists from different countries of the world to Gjirokastra. Despite the cold weather, they prefer to take a closer look at the history, architecture and traditions of the stone city, a UNESCO heritage.
Foreign tourists, while moving along the cobbled streets, among others, appreciate the hospitality of the residents.
“It’s a beautiful city and it’s nice because it’s full of history. I was surprised that it is so great. I don’t think it’s a bad time to visit in January because you can see the mountains all around covered in snow,” said a tourist.
“I am from the Czech Republic and it is my first time in Albania. My first impression is that it seems a really nice place with hospitable people”, said another tourist from Czech Republic.
“Very good. it’s a beautiful city with a special castle, I like it, it’s original, it has history”.
During last year, Gjirokastra was visited by more than 300 thousand tourists, 80% of whom were foreign visitors.
