Interior Minister, Taulant Balla, today hosted General Stuart Skeates, the UK Government’s Special Coordinator for Illegal migration. This meeting took place within the framework of the meetings of the Joint Supervisory Committee for the fight against illegal migration and other criminal phenomena.
At the meeting with General Stuart Skeates, Taulant Balla, shared the results of the Joint Task Force. A decrease of 93% in cases of Albanian migrants compared to last year.
“Albania remains a reliable partner in the common fight against illegal migration, organized crime and drug trafficking”, the British General underlined.
The meeting with the two senior British officials was held shortly after Minister Balla’s official visit to Great Britain in November 2023, during which the Declaration of Cooperation on Internal Affairs/Organized Crime and Serious Crimes between Albania and the United Kingdom was signed.
During the meeting, Minister Balla emphasized that Albanian structures need logistical support and equipment from the British side, as experience shows that such support brings maximum results.
In this meeting, it was also emphasized that the promotion of legal migration through the facilitation of procedures for family reunification or seasonal employment remains the most efficient way to fight illegal migration.
