Museums and historical sites set records across the country for the high number of tourists who visited them last year.
The historical museum in Shkodra, as well as the museum of the Castle, recorded a very high number of tourists, mostly local but also foreign.
The head of this museum, Sokol Haliti, tells for Euronews Albania that there is an increase in interest in museums as a whole, while he appreciates the fact that locals are also visiting them.
“In the high number of visitors of Albania, this is also reflected in the number of visits which is part of the municipality of Shkodra. For the year 2023, about 20,000 visitors attended the castle museum, while about 5,000 visited the “Oso Kuka” historical museum. In relation to the figures of 2022 and earlier, this is truly an experience and an explosion of interest to recognize the values that we inherit and that are administered by our museums”, said Sokol Haliti, the head of the historical museum in Shkodra.
Haliti says that they are also working with school students to get as close as possible to the museums, so that in this way they can get to know the history of their country.
“We have a cooperation agreement, we have signed it with the local office of education in Shkodra, where it is foreseen that the students of the high school system can have the planned talks in our museum and of course accompanied by discussions and relevant debates on topics of common interest”, – Sokol Haliti, head of the historical museum in Shkodra.
The director of the museum emphasized that 2024 will have a rich program aimed at attracting as many tourists as possible.
