Police in Albania arrest three Kosovars after finding explosive materials

The police in Albania have seized 46 kilograms of explosives coming from Kosovo and have arrested three young men from Gjilan.

The Director of the Tirana Police, Tonin Vocaj, stated that a criminal group from Kosovo has been trafficking weapons and explosives from Kosovo to Albania.

“During a police operation on February 4 near the Gjolë Bridge in Fushë Krujë, Kosovo citizens Rigon Maliqi, 20 years old, Lion Pira, 25 years old, and Shkëlqim Halabaku, 27 years old, all residents of Gjilan, were arrested in flagrante,” Vocaj announced.

He said that during this operation, 203 packages of suspected explosive material, believed to be tritonal, weighing 46 kilograms, were seized. Vocaj stated that this quantity of explosives was suspected to be intended for use by various criminal groups in the territory of the Republic of Albania.

The images released by the State Police showed that the explosive material packages were hidden in boxes of fruit juice.

Additionally, the police also seized three mobile phones and one vehicle.

Earlier, two operations were also conducted, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of four firearms, including pistols, along with belts and ammunition, which were trafficked from Kosovo to Albania.
