Serbs displaced from Kosovo set up a blockade on Monday in the town of Rudare, in south Serbia, near the border point with Kosovo, Merdare.

Traffic was obstructed by a truck that blocked the road for about an hour, starting at noon.

According to media reports, the organizer of the blockade was the Association of Serbs displaced from Kosovo.

Communication was blocked for all vehicles, although initially it was announced that from 12:00 to 15:00 the passage of vehicles heading from Kosovo Albanians would be prevented.

The National Center for Border Management of Kosovo, through a post on the social network Facebook, called on travelers to use other border crossings for circulation due to the road blockade.

Tensions have risen again in Kosovo following the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo that from February 1, the single currency for payment transactions will be the euro, implying the removal of the Serbian dinar.

Also, on February 2, in a police operation, Kosovar authorities closed three municipalities in Peja, Istog, and Klina, which were operating in parallel in the Serbian system.

Prior to this, Kosovar authorities also closed four parallel Serbian municipalities operating illegally in the Dragash region, in south Kosovo.
