In the joint press conference between the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić and the Minister of Defense of Germany, Boris Pistorius, Vučić said that “Serbia will not surprise anyone militarily or with any other move”.
Speaking about the issue of the dinar, which has been banned with the entry into force of the new Central Bank of Kosovo regulation, Vučić said that this is “absolutely illegal”.
“We do not fully agree on the issue of the dinar, because the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with the accepted agreements, considers that the removal of the dinar is completely illegal, because the financing of the health and school system is part of the first Brussels agreement and every agreement other after that, and there is no other document to the contrary. This is a provocation that no one knows why someone is doing it, except that the goal is the ethnic cleansing of Serbs from Kosovo”, said Vučić.
Meanwhile, the German Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, said in Belgrade that the investigation into the events in Banjska is of crucial importance.
In Banjska on September 24, an armed group of Serbs attacked the Kosovo Police, killing a police official. In the clashes that followed, three more attackers were killed.
“It is important and necessary for Serbia to continue to investigate the events of September 24, and this is of crucial importance,” said Pistorius during the press conference with Serbian President.
Kosovo accuses Serbia of being behind this event, but Belgrade has denied being involved. The responsibility for the attack was taken by Millan Radoicic, former vice-president of the Serbian List, the main party of the Serbs in Kosovo, which has the support of the official Belgrade.
The Minister of Defense of Germany also said that it is important for Serbia to reduce the military presence on the border with Kosovo.
Also, he called for the reduction of tensions between Kosovo and Serbia and for the return of the parties to the dialogue for the normalization of relations, which is mediated by the European Union.
Commenting on the decision to ban the Serbian dinar for payments in Kosovo, Pistorius said that the country’s implementation “must be organized and no one should get hurt”, asking for a “transition period” for the implementation of the regulation of the Central Bank of Kosovo .
“It is not in anyone’s interest for relations to become even more tense,” said the German Minister of Defense.
