On Thursday, February 15, for the first time, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Albania. A day before participating in the security conference in Munich, the American official will stop in Tirana for several hours, to leave the country on the same day.
In complete confidentiality due to security reasons, Euronews Albania has learned that Blinken will meet with Prime Minister Edi Rama in the Albanian capital, with whom he may later hold a press conference.
For the United States, judicial reform and the fight against corruption are priorities, and for, the U.S. Secretary of State will also hold a meeting with the head of the Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK), Altin Dumani.
During his visit to Tirana, Secretary Blinken is also expected to meet with the staff of the U.S. Embassy.
Antony Blinken’s arrival in Tirana for a few hours will also be accompanied by strict security measures by the State Police. There are expected to be some restrictions in segments from the Rinas airport towards the capital, as well as within Tirana where Blinken will move to conduct the meetings.
Antony Blinken will become the sixth U.S. Secretary of State to visit Albania for an official visit.
