The Albanian National Cinematography Center and the Kosovo Cinematography Center are represented with a joint pavilion at the 74th edition of the European Film Market, which takes place during the International Film Festival in Berlin (Berlinale) on February 15-21, 2024.
At this festival, participating in the Panorama category, is a film by director Birgitte Stærmose, a Danish-Kosovar-Swedish-Finnish co-production titled “Afterwar”, which raises the question of what it’s like to grow up in a post-war society.
The European Film Market is one of the three main markets of the international film and media industry meeting. Its close connection with the Berlinale as a public film festival and its positioning at the heart of Berlin are defining features of this market, which has also positioned itself as a platform for innovation and change.
During these days at the joint pavilion, No. 138, located at the Marriott Hotel, Potsdamer Platz, alongside the promotion of the cinematography of the two countries, various meetings will also be held with film funds, international partnerships, festival organizers, producers, and distributors from around the world. This pavilion will also be under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation of Albania.
For the film industry, the festival is an essential center for networking and trading. In recent years, the Berlinale has adapted and expanded its program to include new elements such as virtual reality and independent films.
