A fire has burned two houses in the city of Gjirokastra.

The fire was registered around 4:20 p.m., Sunday, in the neighborhood “Manalat i otre”, and as a result, 2 houses, owned by two brothers with the initials Ç, were burned. G. and R. Gj.

The operation to put out the flames in the two apartments involved in the fire in Gjirokastër has been difficult due to the continuous explosion of abandoned ammunition in this area.

The fire has activated quantities of war cartridges abandoned during the riots of 1997 that were located in the territory around the houses, making the work of extinguishing the flames difficult. 4 fire engines with relevant groups and the police intervened at the scene.

“This two houses were engulfed in flames and it was difficult for us to intervene as there were explosions all around as a result of abandoned cartridges”, claim the firefighters.

The investigative team is working to clarify the causes of the fire.
