On the 100th anniversary of the death of Giacomo Puccini, the collection of three one-act operas “Il trittico'” will be shown at the National Theater of Opera and Ballet, with scenography brought exclusively from Italy.
Three operas in one night “Il Tabarro”, “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi”, by Giacomo Puccini, three completely different works from each other, united by a single element: DEATH
“Is night. An old boat is anchored on the Seine…” this is how “Il Tabarro” begins, a love story with a tragic end in the Paris of great romances.
“Suor Angelica” takes us to the 17th century. In a nunnery. A girl suffers her punishment, forced to dress as a nun and never meet her child.
“Gianni Schicchi”, the most interesting character of Florence of those years, finds himself in the costume of a rich man who has just passed away, but left a will that upset his family. Posing as a rich man on his deathbed to leave a new will, Gianni confuses everyone with his exploits.
Three scenographies, brought exclusively from Italy for this show, with the support of the Fondazione Festival Pucciniano and the Italian Institute of Culture. Il Trittico was the last work completed by Giacomo Puccini who died before completing his final masterpiece, Turandot.
“Il Trittico”, the work you should not miss, will come to TKOB on February 29 and March 1, 2, 3.
