The financing agreement for the construction of the Vorë-Hani i Hoti railway line is signed. The agreement was signed in London by the Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku and the President of the EBRD, Odile Renaud-Basso during the Investment Summit for the Western Balkans.
The railway line Vorë – Hani i Hoti has a length of 120 kilometers and connects Albania with Montenegro. This is the second project that the Albanian Government is developing in the railway sector after the Tirana-Durra project with a branch at the “Mother Teresa” international airport.
Through a post on social networks, Deputy Prime Minister Balluku describes this project as important, not only for Albania, but also for the region, as it will increase communication between the two countries, encouraging and facilitating the movement of citizens.
“London – with the President of EBRD, Odile Renaud-Basso, we signed the loan agreement for the construction of the railway line Vorë – Hani i Hoti. An important project for us and the region, which will increase communication between countries, encouraging and facilitating the movement of citizens”, writes Balluku.
The Deputy Prime Minister also announced that the energy sector was also discussed during the Summit, where Albania presented the initiatives undertaken, as well as the practices followed with the development of auctions.
“Albania is one of those countries which is taken as an example of excellence in terms of all the energy auctions we have organized and three of them have already taken place. While we shared with all the investors, representatives of the banking system and of course all the other partners who have supported us in our journey, who are the plans for the future”, underlined Balluku.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy announced that the EBRD expressed interest in supporting Albania in other important projects.
“We talked, also during the meeting with the President of the EBRD, about all plans in the future. They are also interested in supporting developments and investments in the water and sewage sector, but of course also in green transport, as one of the most important alternatives, especially for Albania since all carbon dioxide emissions in our country come only by road transport. Thus, speaking with one of our most important partners, the EBRD, about future plans, we can say that today, in addition to signing this very important loan for the Vorë-Hani i Hoti railway line, we have also put some foundation stones for the projects we have in the future,” announced Balluku, among other things, in a statement to the media.
