The Chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha, held a meeting with the European Union Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi.
Through a post, Basha disclosed details of the meeting, where, according to him, the priorities of the DP, electoral reform and the fight against corruption were discussed.
Basha added that through the proposals for electoral reform, PD aims to give citizens the right to elect their deputies through open lists.
The DP chairman’s post:
It was a pleasure to talk today with the European Union Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi. We discussed the priorities of the Democratic Party of Albania, electoral reform and the fight against corruption. For DP, anyone who has abused the Albanians’ money must be held accountable before justice. For this reason DP is on the side of justice and Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK) in the fight against corruption and to end impunity in Albania.
Through the proposals for the electoral reform, DP aims to give citizens the right to elect their deputies through open lists. The equality of the vote through the creation of an electoral zone, electronic voting and counting and the vote of the diaspora are other proposals through which we aim to restore the confidence of Albanians in the elections and give power to their voice.
