Today, Albania ranks 90th in terms of military strength. In this position it is placed by the institute, “Global Firepower”, which evaluates combat capacities, the number of military troops, finances, artillery technology and logistical capabilities.

According to the index data, Albania has 19 aircraft in total, but none of them are used for training, military missions or for attacks.

In the region, Albania ranks second after Serbia, and leaves behind all other countries on the map of the Western Balkans.

However, the inauguration of the base in Kuçovo as well as the “Bayraktar” drones, known for their efficiency and advanced technology, are a positive signal in the field of defense in Albania. These investments are expected to improve the position of the country in the index among the countries of the world.

According to the index, Albania ranks 113th among 145 countries in total in terms of the defense budget. The defense fund this year reaches 500 million dollars, with a significant increase compared to previous years.

5 years ago, defense budget expenditures were 0.7% of GDP, while this year they reach 1.8%, a signal that shows that Albania is strengthening the army and fulfilling NATO’s obligation to increase expenditures in the level of 2% of GDP.
