The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade of Kosovo (MINT) has decided on Tuesday other protective measures for oil products, as well as set their price for the next three months.

According to the new decision, the maximum allowed commercial margin of wholesale is two cents per liter, while the maximum allowed commercial margin of retail sale is 12 cents per liter, writes Radio Free Europe.

This decision entered into force today and will be valid for 90 days, MINT said.

MINT underlined in a press release that it took such a decision because it found “mismatches of local prices with large price movements in the world market”.

“In order to protect the consumer, protect the competition and to avoid disturbances in the market, MINT has made a decision to set the price and other protective measures of oil products”, the announcement states.

In Pristina, a liter of diesel currently costs between 1.35 and 1.45 euros.

MINT emphasized that the Central Market Inspectorate in cooperation with the Customs and Tax Administration will increase the supervision of the implementation of its decision, as well as the quality and quantity of oil products.

Oil prices and demand have risen in international markets following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
