The United Kingdom Ambassador to Tirana, Alastair King-Smith, participated in a conference organized in Tirana, where the possibilities of investment in the green energy sector in Albania were discussed.

He chaired a panel of experts, attended by David Stadtmann from the London-based company, ERG International UK, Sean Burnage from the British Department for Export Finance, and Flonia Tashko from the British Chamber of Commerce in Albania.

They discussed ways in which British expertise and investment in renewable energy could bring benefits to Albania, the United Kingdom, and the world.

The United Kingdom has offered £4 billion for medium to large-scale projects in Albania, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and municipalities throughout the country.

Present at this conference was the British Chamber of Commerce in Albania, which was introduced by the Foreign Secretary in October 2023 to bring together businesses in Albania and the United Kingdom to maximize the extraordinary potential for trade and investment between the two countries and to shift the focus of domestic and international business to northern Albania.

Trade links doubled last year, and UK tourists to Albania increased by 30% in January 2024 compared to January 2023, paving the way for predictions of record-level tourism this year.
