Chief Democrat Lulzim Basha held a meeting today at the National Assembly in Paris, with the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the French Parliament, Jean-Louis Bourlanges.

Through a post on Facebook, where he shared photos from the meeting, Basha said that at the meeting they discussed the security situation and the threats that Europe is facing, while the war of Russian aggression in Ukraine has entered its third year.

Basha also said that he acquainted the chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the French Parliament with the resolution on the reconstruction of Ukraine, proposed by him, which stipulates that the Russian Federation has the obligation to compensate Ukraine for the damages caused.

Democratic Party head’s post:

It was a pleasure to be hosted today at the National Assembly in Paris by Jean-Louis Bourlanges, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the French parliament. We talked extensively about the security situation and the threats that Europe is facing, while the war of Russian aggression in Ukraine has entered its third year.

The situation in Ukraine and the steps taken in Europe and the USA regarding holding Russia responsible for the crimes and damages caused were at the center of the meeting.

I introduced the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the French Parliament to the resolution on the reconstruction of Ukraine, which stipulates that the Russian Federation has the obligation to compensate Ukraine, its citizens, enterprises and government, for the damages caused by its illegal acts. In function of this goal is the confiscation of the frozen assets of the Russian Federation and their placement in support of Ukraine.

In addition to helping Ukraine, this step also sends a clear message to the aggressors and those who try to profit from the aggression.

Such are the attempts at destabilization in the region, where Moscow’s goals with the support of its allies in Serbia are to plunge the Western Balkans into chaos and undermine the security architecture of the southeastern wing of NATO by provoking a new front in the heart of Alliance.

While the special session of the Political Committee for Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe will take place tomorrow, I asked for the support of France, underlining that Kosovo, a member of the Council of Europe, is one more guarantee for those who claim to protect the rights of minorities there.

At the end of the cordial and fruitful meeting, I had the pleasure of inviting the host to visit Albania in the near future.
