David Kostelancik, re-nominated by US President Joe Biden for the position of US ambassador to Albania, is expected to appear before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on April 16, according to an announcement.
Kostelancik was nominated as US ambassador to Tirana on January 24, 2023, but his appointment was returned to the White House after the Senate, during the session that ended late last year, did not schedule a vote for confirmation of Kostelancik and dozens of other nominees within the deadlines.
Kostelancik is expected to be reconfirmed by the Committee, to be later presented for a vote by the Senate.
In his presentation before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on March 30, 2023, he outlined strengthening the new justice institutions in Tirana as a priority in his work.
During 1992-1994, Kostelancik served as the first political and economic affairs representative at the US Embassy in Tirana.
He is a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Minister-Counselor.
