The expansion of the Tirana-Durres highway will cost 16 million euros. The Road Authority has opened the tender to find the company, which will have 2 years to close the investment.

The works for the expansion of the Tirana – Durres highway are expected to last 2 years, while the calculated value for the intervention reaches 16.2 million euros.

The tender opened by the Albanian Road Authority requires that until May 8, the companies submit their offers and then the contract is signed to pave the way for the works.

The document describes that for the first phase of the project, the period of works includes the erosion, demolition of the existing concrete, as well as the construction of works of art that include culverts or drainages, while the asphalting will start in the 11th month of the works. At the same time, it is specified that after the expansion of the highway, the speed allowed for the circulation of vehicles will be 90-140 km/h.

The start of works for the expansion of this road segment has been announced earlier by the Albanian authorities, who have also informed that the highway will be increased by 2 lanes in each direction of movement, making the total reach 8 lanes.

The widening works will initially cover the first 5 km of the highway. At the same time, the tender for the reconstruction of the old Kombinat – Ndroq – Plepa road, which also leads to Durres, has been opened.

The fund for the construction of the first lot of this road is about ALL 755 million.
