Construction and real estate are the ones that made the most contributions to economic growth in Albania. Last year alone, the industry recorded 1.3 billion euros in sales, the record collection since 2019.
Demand for real estate has continued to be high throughout 2023.
According to INSTAT, net sales, according to economic activity, for properties and constructions reached 136.8 billion ALL or 1.3 billion euros last year alone, the highest historical level.
According to the data, the sales value started to increase after 2019, while in 2022 and 2023, the sales volume increased at a faster pace.
Construction and real estate activity have increased in recent years. In the composition of the gross domestic product, the construction industry occupies the largest part. Even in the contribution of economic growth, the construction industry is the one that made the biggest contribution, with 1.28% only in the last three months of last year.
But the weight that the activity of real estate and construction occupies in the economy of Albanian country is in an oblique position with the shrinking of the population, which, due to aging and migration, has significantly reduced the purchasing power.
Also, apartment prices in the capital are much higher than average incomes, as Albania ranks among the countries with the lowest purchasing power in the region.
