The Special Anticorruption Court sentenced 9 women repatriated from Syria, who are accused of “participation in a terrorist organization” and “participation in military activity in a foreign country”.
Judge Rudina Palloj accepted the request of prosecutor Elida Kaçkini, finding the nine defendants guilty and sentenced each of them to 7 years in prison. With the application of summary judgment, the sentence was reduced to 4 years and 8 months of imprisonment.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office requested the suspension of the sentence for each and their placement on probation for 5 years. Also at the request of Kaçkini, the black squads decided to lift the security measure that prohibits the defendants from leaving the country’s territory.
Palloj also ordered that the 9 people should not be associated with anyone who has been investigated or convicted for such criminal acts, as well as not to frequent premises with individuals who have radical attitudes.
During 2013-2014, the nine women left for Syria, after following their husbands, who went to fight alongside Al Nusra and then for ISIS.
From the investigations of the Special Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, it appears that all the defendants joined two terrorist organizations in Syria willingly.
