The Ambassador of the Netherlands in Albania, Reinout Vos, who was on a visit to Korça, said that it is very important for Albania to focus on the rule of law, as it progresses in opening the chapters for integration.
“It is very important to open the chapters for the integration of Albania in the EU and focusing mainly on the rule of law. We hope and are very optimistic about Albania’s path in this direction”, he said.
The ambassador also spoke about the importance of majority-opposition cooperation for the approval of the electoral reform:
“I am satisfied that both the opposition and the majority are working together in the parliament as the electoral reform and Albania’s future in the EU is a very important step for the country. The cooperation of both parties is needed”, said Reinout Vos.
Regarding the normalization of the situation in the Western Balkans, the Dutch ambassador said:
“It is true that the EU has an interest in the Western Balkans, but it remains for the Westen Balkans countries to work hard on EU integration. I am impressed by the work Albania has done in its homework and presentation in Brussels last year, but it still needs work ahead for the European future.”
