The EU Special Envoy for Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák, has announced that the next meeting on the dinar between Kosovo and Serbia is expected to take place at the end of this week.

The next meeting between Kosovo and Serbia on the issue of the dinar is expected to take place this week. The Special Envoy of the European Union for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák, announces that he is waiting for the parties that sat down in the talks to find a solution.

“At the end of this week, I will welcome the chief negotiators of Kosovo and Serbia for another round of talks in order to find a temporary solution for the people affected by the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo. I expect that both parties will come to the meeting with an open mind, flexibility and a solution-oriented approach based on the ideas presented during previous meetings,” said Lajčák.

The last meeting between Pristina and Belgrade took place on April 4 in Brussels. In total, the parties have held 4 meetings without being able to find a solution.

The Government of Kosovo claims that the decision to remove the dinar from use in its territory is a Constitutional issue and cannot be negotiated. Meanwhile, the EU and the US have requested the postponement of the decision in order not to penalize Serbian citizens who receive payments in dinars.
