The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučić, said today in a statement to the local media that the chances of Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe are “still very high, but that Belgrade is doing its best to prevent this and is proud of it”.

“Thus, we respect the European rules and everything we have agreed with the Europeans and the Americans”, said Vučić, writes Euronews Serbia.

He stated that after Dora Bakoyannis “strange visits” to Athens, there was no talk of forming an association of Serbian municipalities as a condition for Kosovo’s entry into the Council of Europe, nor for the prevention of further expropriations and the formation of the so-called police and military stations in the north of Kosovo.

Vučićalso said that the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, said that after joining the Council of Europe, “families that have been denied justice for 25 years” will have access to the European Court of Human Rights to sue Serbia and therefore it is imperative for them that the membership process is successful.
