During the month of March, commercial banks gave an average of 1 billion ALL in loans every day. The amount shows that the demand from businesses and citizens has increased this year.

The demand to get loans has increased this year. Commercial banks gave ALL 30.1 billion loans in March alone, this figure is 8% higher, compared to March of last year. So, on average, they disbursed ALL 1 billion every day.

For the entire first quarter, the value of the new loan disbursed was 83 billion ALL, with a 30% increase compared to the quarter of 2023.

The data recorded by the Central Bank show that the loan in Lek carries the largest part of the amount. It has reached 62% of the total, from 41% that was a year ago.

The increase in new credit is quite significant, taking into account the effect of the exchange rate. Although new lending is dominated by the lek, that part of the portfolio in foreign currency continues to be negatively affected by the annual drop in the exchange rate.

The new loan for businesses for the period January-March 2024 reached ALL 58.1 billion, increasing by 53% compared to the first quarter of last year.

While the new loan for individuals reached ALL 24.6 billion, increasing by 13.8% compared to the first quarter of last year.
