Residents of 37 villages protest for water

Residents of the province of Vlora river held this Saturday the 7th protest in a row. With banners in their hands with the slogan “Keep your hands off Shushica” they oppose the project undertaken by the government to build a water supply.

Residents say that the waterworks will take water from the source of the Shushica river to supply the residents of Himara municipality.

According to them, the Shushica river is the only source of life for these areas. They have called on the government to stop this investment and otherwise they will not stop.

The participants in the protest also clashed with the police forces, after blocking the passage of vehicles for almost 30 minutes at the place called Ura e Lekso in the village of Kuç.

Residents of 37 villages where this river passes have participated in this gathering. The protest has continued for more than 2 hours and the residents have stated that they will protest again until they get an answer from the institutions.
