The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, together with the Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy, David Wisner, inaugurated the new building of the National Reception Center for Victims of Trafficking, which since its opening in 2003 has treated and rehabilitated about 700 women, girls and children, victims of trafficking.
During her speech, Minister Koçiu emphasized that this is an important center in terms of victims of trafficking or potential victims of trafficking.
In over 20 years, this center has treated about 700 girls who have been part of these concerns.
Albana Koçiu pointed out that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection is continuing its commitment to expand the capacities for the reception and rehabilitation of victims of trafficking by offering integrated psycho-social services according to European standards.
This center aims for victims of trafficking, girls and women to get a profession and be trained for the labor market in order to afford a dignified life after their rehabilitation.
The minister added that with the establishment of the first family medicine center that will be opened soon, the aim is to double the number of social workers and psychologists, in addition to mental health professionals.
Recent events show that integrated psycho-social services are a necessity for every citizen in need by addressing mental health issues with the establishment of 10 family centers where psychologists and social workers will offer their services.
