The isolation of Albanian families during the Covid 19 pandemic caused children to be deprived of going out into nature or playgrounds.
Exactly this situation affected the reduction of the pace of physical activity, while increasing the passive or sleeping hours at children.
A recent study conducted by the World Health Organization among children in Europe showed that 15% of children increased their sleeping hours during the weekdays, while at the weekend this figure reached 17%.
Children in Albania followed almost the same trend.
The data collected by the experts of the Public Institute indicate that 10.1% of children increased their sleeping hours during the weekdays, in the absence of physical activity, while on weekends, even in Albania, the figure increases, making 14.5% of children increased the hours they spent sleeping.
But there were also those children who, during the Covid 19 pandemic, reduced their sleeping hours compared to the period before the pandemic.
Put in numbers, 9% of children had reduced hours of sleep during weekdays and 6.5% slept less on weekends.
World health experts say that only 75% of children continued their sleep routine without being affected by the pandemic.
Children in San Marino were seen to have the greatest increase in sleep hours in the pandemic period.
