The latest Barometer survey by Euronews Albania has posed several questions to understand citizens’ opinions and approaches regarding family-related issues. One of these questions aims to understand their views on the ideal family size in terms of the number of children.

“How many children should an ideal family have?” is one of the survey questions.

The majority of respondents believe that the ideal family should have three children. Specifically, 39.3% of respondents think that three children make an ideal family.

Additionally, 31.2% believe that an ideal family should have two children, and 19.1% think that four children constitute an ideal family.

Fewer respondents believe that an ideal family should have more than four children (five children: 2.1%, six children: 0.6%, more than seven children: 0.5%).

Only 0.2% of respondents consider a family with one or no children to be ideal.

What do Albanians think makes a woman fulfilled?

A woman’s role as a mother is another concept examined in the recent Barometer survey by Euronews Albania.

“Do you think a woman needs to have children to be considered fulfilled, or is it not necessary?” was the question posed.

According to the survey, 57.3% of respondents believe that a woman needs to have children to be considered fulfilled.

In contrast, 38.6% think it is not necessary for a woman to have children to be considered fulfilled.

Only 4.1% of respondents did not have a clear idea and answered “don’t know” to this question.

Is marriage outdated?

At a time when societal discussions, especially regarding issues like domestic violence and the health of families and marriages, have various dynamics, the Barometer also asked Albanians what they think about the institution of marriage.

The question was framed to gauge their agreement or disagreement with the statement: “Marriage is an outdated institution”.

The majority of citizens do not think that marriage is outdated, with 85% of respondents confirming this view.

Meanwhile, 12.7% agree with the statement that “marriage is an outdated institution”, and 2.4% do not have an answer, choosing the “don’t know” option.

Prostitution, abortion, divorce: do Albanians justify them?

Another question in the survey confronted respondents with several societal phenomena that are always debated, such as prostitution, abortion, and divorce.

To understand the citizens’ tolerance towards these issues, they were asked whether these actions or phenomena are justified or not.

According to the results, 91% of respondents do not tolerate or justify prostitution.

Similarly, a majority of 77.2% do not justify abortion.

A smaller percentage, 47.8%, do not justify divorce.
