An article in the Italian newspaper “La Repubblica” about illegal migrants who will be caught at sea by the Italian police and then settled in the area of Gjadër in Shëngjin, has once again brought attention to the agreement signed in the last November between Prime Ministers Rama and Meloni.
In the article of “La Repubblica” it is written that Prime Minister Rama had criticized the agreement while several headlines were used, among which “Rama dumped Meloni”.
This article caused Prime Minister Rama to react immediately on the “X” network, denying giving an interview to the journalist of “La Repubblica”, while saying that he had a conversation with friends who came from Italy to Albania.
“No, I did not change my mind and did not give an interview. But I never imagined that I would once again end up in the swamp of the Italian political battle in quotes with words I never said, as “it will be a failure” or “we would like D’Alema” under the title “Rama rejects Meloni”, in which I do not recognize myself at all”, Rama writes, among other things, in his reaction.
The prime minister’s full reaction:
No, I have not changed my mind, nor have I given an interview. I acted the Albanian who practices his ancient religion of hospitality – the home of the Albanian is God’s and friend’s – offering a coffee to some good friends who had come to Tirana from Italy. We talked about many things in a beautiful friendly atmosphere and, of course, also about the agreement and the history of clandestine migration from Albania to Italy, which the D’Alema government managed to put an end to with a logic and strategic foresight.
I never thought that I would end up once again in the swamp of the Italian political war, quoting me with words that I never said, such as “it will be a failure” or “it would take D’Alema” under the title “Rama gives up Meloni”, where I don’t find myself at all. However, I repeat: Even if I could go back a hundred times, I would still make the agreement for migrants with Italy and no other country.
I have always said that, in my opinion, it is something new that must pass the test of reality. Then, if a photo published by a construction site in the first hours of work, accompanied by the title “800 million wasted”, is taken as reality, then we live in parallel worlds and nothing can bring us closer to the massive challenge of illegal migration, in a Europe that must unite to fight at the same time the criminal trafficking of the poor and the demographic winter that increasingly threatens the future her, while the politicians resemble the priests of Constantinople, who were so busy arguing about the sex of angels that they did not realize that the walls of the city had already fallen on all sides.
At the end of March, work began on the construction of the refugee camp that will be housed in Gjadër of Lezha, which is expected to be ready at the end of this year.
