The Free Economic Zone of Tirana (TEDA) is expected to employ 5-7 thousand workers. During the meeting of the Municipal Council of Tirana, the mayor Erion Veliaj said that the focus of the municipality in the next 3 years will be on the economy.
“With the boom that the airport has had, with the access that the Port of Durrës gives us, with the proximity to the workforce in Tirana, we anticipate that there will be 5-7 thousand jobs in the free economic zone. We have reached a stage where many of the decision-making causes good energy in the economy. This means that more and more, at a moment when the main projects have finished, the focus of the municipality in the next 3 years will be on the economy and on what investments we can make that produce jobs from those that pay well”. he said.
Veliaj underlined that the Free Economic Zone of Tirana is a project that has already started and very soon the second phase of the investment will start.
“We have already received the license from the government, we have made the investment for the first phase. We have an interest expressed by many companies. It is about new technologies, mainly automotive, digital, cloud computer, so that they are the jobs of the future and that are paid much better than those modest salaries of the fashion industry. We are in a situation where the second phase of the investment will be needed very soon, which has to do not only with the terrain there, but also the connection with the highway, the connection with many important areas”, said the head of the Municipality.
The Municipal Council of Tirana approved today the decision to provide economic assistance to families in need, as well as the decision to treat some families in need, who cannot afford free market rent, with rent subsidies. In addition, the rent bonus was approved for families affected by ‘Unaza e Madhe’ project, as well as the rent bonus for ‘Kombinat’ families affected by this areas reconstruction project.
