The visit of the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, to Albania was covered by quite a few international media.

First there were those from the neighboring country who wrote about her temporary stay in Shëngjin, where the center for the reception of African refugees will be set up.

Thus, the daily “Corriere della Sera” has emphasized the protest of the Italian MP Riccardo Magi against the agreement and his detention by the security agents present at the scene.

“All this is an electoral spot”, the Italian lawmaker is quoted as saying.

The “TGCOM 24” portal, in its reporting, has emphasized the announcement of Mrs. Meloni, that the camp will be ready starting from August, with 1,000 places; as well as its response to those who have called the spending of 1 billion euros excessive. “Someone has thrown away 17 billion only through superbonus”, said Meloni, referring to a reward project in Italy.

In the same line, the news was also reflected in the “ANSA” agency, while the other daily “La Repubblica” showed more of the protest of the Italian deputy, Magi, against the agreement.

Meanwhile, the prestigious “Reuters” agency emphasizes how the agreement will work. According to her, the agreement, valid for 5 years, foresees the landing of 36 thousand migrants per year in the port of Shëngjin, while their houses will be erected near the air base in Gjadër, which can hold only 3 thousand people.

The other agency “Associated Press” has considered the Italy-Albania agreement as “contradictory”, writing: “The Prime Minister of Italy visits Albania as the contested plan to limit migrants comes to life”.

The same news was reported in the “Seattle Times”, which nevertheless quoted Prime Minister Meloni as saying that, “the visit is not an electoral spot on the eve of the European Parliament elections”.
