The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has asked his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, during a telephone conversation on Friday, that the issues important to Serbia, that are related to Kosovo, continue to occupy an important place in the agenda of the European Union (EU).
Vučić wrote on Instagram that they should be part of the agenda “with a strong diplomatic commitment, which aims at the final realization of the Brussels Agreement and with the establishment of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority, as a basis for building lasting peace and guaranteeing security for the Serbian people”.
Vučić said that he also discussed regional security and economic stability with the French president.
“I emphasized that the advocacy for dialogue remains the foundation of Serbia’s policy in regional relations and the most important factor in solving the difficult issues that we all face,” added Vučić.
He emphasized that they also discussed the current political changes in the European and global frameworks and their possible impact on Serbia.
Serbia and Kosovo have been holding dialogue for the normalization of relations, under the mediation of the EU, since 2011.
Vučić and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, will meet on June 26 in Brussels for the first time this year.
The last time they met was on September 14 of last year, when they discussed the implementation of the agreement plan for the normalization of relations, which they reached earlier in 2023 in Brussels and Ohrid.
That meeting was unsuccessful.
