During these hot summer days, the concern for the farmers of the Gjirokastra District is the damage to the agricultural lands and crops by the locust.
There are about 80 hectares of land, mainly in pastures, which have been damaged by swarms of locusts, causing economic problems for farmers and ranchers.
Farmers and agricultural specialists have intervened in some areas with chemicals and pesticides to minimize the damage caused by locusts. Among other things, it appeals for timely intervention to save the planted areas from damage and avoid economic damage.
The development of tourism is also promoting local agricultural production in the Gjirokastra District, while farmers are investing in the agritourism sector.
