The United States of America and the European Union are investing in the development and integration of Albania. Their plan is linked to a series of reforms in the field of defense, democracy and business.
Albania is seen as a country with great opportunities towards integration into the European Union and an important partner for the United States. With this perspective, the European Union itself is stimulating economic growth, through a financing plan with around 1 billion euros in grants and loans until 2027.
“The EU plan talks about growth and reform, it is an unparalleled offer. It is one way to answer another question. The membership process is long, technical and requires work to achieve standards. It can be discouraging, but the logic here is to offer some of the benefits of membership, before the official membership”, said the Deputy of the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations Silvio Gonzato.
Even the United States has made its contribution in three directions during the last years, while seeing the development of private business as the main pillar.
“In Albania we are focusing on defense, democracy and business. For these issues, we are working with the European Union to see the change. In terms of democracy, we have focused on justice reform, and we have seen tremendous progress. We are also engaging with young people, but the main pillar where we are focused is related to the economy, where American companies have seen development and the American Chamber has done a very good job,” said Frank G. Wisner.
