Only 30 percent of the Albanian population over the age of 16 has been able to participate in paid cultural activities.
According to the latest INSTAT data, this figure is 1.6 percent higher than in 2022. In total, 1,175 performances and premieres were given during 2023 and 153,041 spectators participated.
There were more participants in museums of material heritage with 1 million visitors, 58.7% of whom were foreigners.
Butrint Park takes first place, followed by Gjirokastra Castle, Apolonia, Gjergj Kastrioti Museum and Shkodra Archaeological Park.
In the academic year 2023-2024, 16,715 students were registered in the fields of study related to culture, which make up 14.3% of the total.
According to INSTAT, there is a decrease of about 2,000 compared to two years ago. The fields of study most preferred by students are “Architecture and Construction” and “Languages”, respectively with 35.7% and 22.7%.
In culture-related fields of study, women make up the majority of students at 57.8%. The percentage of women is higher in the fields “Language” (83.8%), “Journalism and information” (79.9%) and “Humanities” (74.7%) and lower in the field “Sports” , where women make up 24.8% of students in this field.
