The first data of the Population and Housing Census have been released, which were presented today.
According to the data provided by the 2023 census, it turns out that there are 2,402,113 inhabitants in Albania. It also turns out that there are 755 thousand families in total.
The population has decreased by 409,864 inhabitants since 2011, when the last census was taken.
The population has decreased by 16% since 2011. In the period 2001-2011, the population decreased by 8%. So the population decline has almost doubled during these years.
These data were shared by Elsa Dhuli, director of the Institute of Statistics.
“This Census estimated in the Albanian territory on September 18, 2023, 2,402,113 inhabitants, who make up 755,950 families, with an average size of 3.2 members per family, who live in 1,082,529 ordinary dwellings.
Today we are pleased to present in detail the information related to this process, showing at the same time that this Cens has achieved the purpose for which it was carried out, it has justified the long-term investments, financial support, the need of the users”, said Elsa Dhuli, director of the Institute of Statistics.
