Greek media reports that Fredi Beleri has received permission from the Albanian prison authorities to fly to Strasbourg to take up his duties as a member of the European Parliament.

According to the Greek media, Beleri will arrive in Athens on Monday morning, around 12:30, and then travel to Strasbourg.

Protothema writes that according to Greek government sources, the permission for Beleri is seen as an important development for the works in the European Parliament.

We recall that in May 2023, two days before the mayoral elections in Himara, Fredi Beleri was arrested as accused of buying votes.

In March 2024, GJKKO (Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime) found him guilty and he was sentenced to two years in prison.

After the decision of final punishment in Appeal, Beleri lost the mayor’s mandate from the CEC, causing elections to be announced again in Himara, which will be held on August 4.
