The President of the Albanian Republic, Bajram Begaj, has decreed changes in the government.
In a statement from the President’s Office, it is noted that the President, in the exercise of his constitutional powers, reviewed the proposal from Prime Minister Edi Rama dated July 28 regarding the dismissal and appointment of several ministers.
Following the review procedure, President Bajram Begaj decreed the dismissal of Interior Minister Taulant Balla, Defence Minister Niko Peleshi, Finance Minister Ervin Mete, and Minister of State for Relations with Parliament Elisa Spiropali.
President Begaj also decreed the appointment of Ervin Hoxha as Interior Minister, Pirro Vengu as Defence Minister, Petrit Malaj as Finance Minister, and Taulant Balla as Minister of State for Relations with Parliament.
A special session in Parliament to approve these changes and the designation of Elisa Spiropali as the new speaker of parliament, is due to take place today at 17:00.
