Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded to accusations by the Secretary for Legal Affairs in the Democratic Party, Ivi Kaso, that his family has acquired 22.4 hectares of land in Vuno, Himara.

In a statement on social media, Rama described these accusations as “desperate attempts to draw an impossible parallel between power used for oneself and one’s family and power made available to everyone”.

“The desperate attempt to draw an impossible parallel between power used for oneself and one’s family and power made available to everyone, where even oneself, one’s family, or one’s clan are treated the same as everyone else, is an attempt that I welcome with pleasure. It is both despicable, as always, when mud is thrown at my family to fight me, and this time welcome to highlight the stark difference between the aggressors of my family and me as their unwavering opponent,” Rama stated.

The Prime Minister warned of the next lawsuit, “along with all the facts that expose this attempt as a sludge drawn from the black water channels of the media in Tirana and Athens”.

“All the facts that expose this attempt as a sludge drawn from the black water channels of the media in Tirana and Athens, and now propagated by the slaves of the non grata balcony, will be part of the next lawsuit for these wrongdoers who are actually paying with self-discredit and exemplary self-shaming in the eyes of Albanians for the countless wrongdoings they have committed against this country and this people when they held both the stone and the nut in their wrong and dirty hands,” Rama stated.

“For the public, there is only one fact. To this day, dozens of heirs to our great-grandfather’s properties in Vuno, Himara, just like many other heirs in this area – where I was recently with our next Sunday’s mayor, Vangjel Tavo – have not yet received their ownership certificates. Because I, unlike my godless and faithless opponents, am not of that category of people’s representatives who say one thing for the people and do another for themselves,” he added.

“So, thank you for opening this pit in public for me and feel free to jump in yourselves, as usual, but this time with the great benefit that the people will see the big difference, as in a mirror where only those blind with a splinter in their brain will fail to understand,” concluded the Prime Minister.

The Secretary for Legal Affairs in the Democratic Party, Ivi Kaso, in a statement to the media, said that Prime Minister Rama and his family have appropriated 22.4 hectares of land in Vuno.

“On August 7, 2021, Artan Lame of the Cadastre and the former mayor, now arrested, of Himara Municipality, Jorgo Goro, appeared before the residents of Vuno to announce the completion of property registration. In the list of beneficiaries, contrary to what Rama claims, was the Koleka clan, and among them Aneta Rama-Koleka. In 2017, Edi Rama and other heirs of the Koleka clan applied to register their property with the Property Treatment Agency,” said Kaso.
